Venue info
Originally a no-nonsense drinking den and local landmark opposite Leeds Town Hall and the Law Courts, the Tavern was for many years the first port of call for barristers, journo hacks and those celebrating or drowning their sorrows after their day of reckoning. Following a wholesale refurbishment in 2011, this Timothy Taylor-managed pub emerged with smart new decor, dark blue walls, big lamps, long polished tables and wood floors. The lawyers are still there, along with bankers and other city types, and they have their much-loved TT beers on tap: Best, Golden Best, Landlord and Ram Tam, as well as Freedom lagers, wine and cocktails. Food is aspiring pub grub with chicken pie, scampi in a basket, fish and chips or homemade burgers featuring on a wide-ranging menu.
