The Lamb Beer & Liquor, to give it its full title, is a welcome new watering hole on a grim stretch of this grimy north London artery. Formerly the dire Barcosa, the stripped out, pared down reconstructed boozers mission statement - drink ya wages, fill ya belly, stamp ya feet - is made possible by ambers from the likes of Fullers, Meantime pale ale (£3.50), Camden Hells and Scottish indie punks, BrewDog, whose off-the-scale super-strong ales and stouts are a hit with Londons harder hopheads. Elegant snacks - try hot dogs (£3) franks and Soffles pitta chips - take care of hungry tummies while foot tapping is encouraged at free live music sessions throughout the week.Raw alt-folk, mind-bending avant-pop and an Irish session with Wraggle Taggle were among the promised forthcoming attractions when we popped in. Fiery Bloody Marys, containing rather a lot of the Lamb's liquor and Holy F*** sauce, are a hit with the unpretentious Sunday slacker set.
