Hold Fast Bar

There’s a certain Aussie vibe to this underground nautical-themed bunker, which is decked out like the bowels of an industrial ship. Lots of bars down-under have a games room, and in a corner of Hold Fast there’s a couple of Mega Drives, ready for a game of Sonic while you quaff your craft brew. Punt for a Sam Adams or a strong and malty Brooklyn lager and a bag of Space Invaders. Alternatively, go for something slightly more sophisticated: anyone for a Red October (a Tequila, Campari and port concoction)? The venue is located under a hostel, and pockets of backpackers are sometimes visible, but the crowd is largely made up of intrepid bar fans who have ventured to the Northern Quarter for some rough-and-ready good times.
